"I have never been lost, but I will admit to being confused for several weeks."
This was said by blazing explorer Daniel Boone, but a trip to Fremont might leave many people thinking the same. Where else can you find an 18-foot bridge-hiding troll, enormous Lenin replica and funky 1950's rocket all living within the same few blocks?
Fremont is famous for its individual approach, with its city streets plus winding waterfront trail just ripe to explore. Enjoy backstreet walking tours or a trip through the only fair-trade chocolate factory in the country. Fly high on a trapeze (or just watch the professionals). Peruse public art. Make a purchase in an offbeat gallery. Get tickets to an assorted mix of live theater. Rock-out to the local music scene. Or simply make peace in a local park.
Take a spin and you'll soon see why Fremont's un-official slogan is De Libertas Quirkas - "free to be peculiar."
